Kayaking and First Aid

Hrm, so much has happened since last week.

Firstly, the rest of the people arrived for our PIT course and overall they seem like an ok bunch. Kirk, Jay and myself have been put in the small group of older people (boo hoo im only 22 :'() with 2 ladies and one south african guy. It's nice being in the small group (and mature?) as we seem to pack up quickly and are ready on time in the mornings.

I have been getting up at like 7:30 every day easily, although it could be due to the fact that i get so much sleep due to their being nothing to do in the evenings except play pool and drink at the bar. We did however buy a tv last week which is pretty neat, although Kirk did reverse into a car when parking that day. Whoops.

So, onto the course. We started monday/tuesday doing kayaking this week with a guy called Phil who is pretty good at it to be honest. Learned a lot of stuff and mastered (almost) eskimo rolls and low and high braces. Clinton didnt have to rescue me once in the pool actually, although in the sea i did 3 failed attempts in a row and had to rip chord out as i was doing it out of the way of Phil who would have saved me :).

I feel really good about the kayaking and cant wait to get more into it and hopefully into some wave surfing and rapids.

Today was spent inside studying first aid. CPR, burns, breaks, etc etc etc. Pretty good fun for the first hour or so, but by the end i was glad to get out. Another vicotry in my pursuit of excellence though. :)

Tomorrow we are doing powerboat level 1 which will be ok, i seem to be able to handle the ribs quite well and last time got told off for doing a figure of 8 too fast. Whoops.

Wonder if ive said that before...

Anyway, got to do research for a talk on sea kayaking and another one of my choice.

Later folks.

Windsurfing

Did my second day of windsurfing today and worked it out. Yesterday was pretty pathetic. Got the hang of it in the morning and lost it and drifted about for a bit in the afternoon. Today, i had it all day, and now my arms and shoulders are killing me. Got a film in 15 minutes and then to bed and start the day again tomorrow. Took some good photos today (i hope) but i cant download them to this computer so i will need to work something out. Hopefully ill get all my photos up before i head off to australia so i have lots of free space to use.

Last week we were dingy sailing (have i said this already?) and i feel pretty good now with that. We also had a go at powerboat level 1 and that was really quite easy although i got shouted at (or told off at least :)) for doing a reverse figure of eight too fast. Whoops.

Good fun, 2 new people on the course doing our windsurfing part and both seem ok. All the other guys and gals are quite cool too so will just have to wait and see on sunday as the other 15 or so people arrive. Hope they are all nice or it could ruin everything :)

Oh yeah, went swimming yesterday and am doing quite well at attempting to stay fit, i am keeping up with my fruit and veg intake although at breakfast although i have a yoghurt and cereal and fruit, there is also a lot of cooked food there which tempts me every morning :(. Tomorrow i will stop.

Me, Jay, Kirk and Phil went for a run 2 days ago (no that you know any of them...) and we did about 3 or 4 miles which was quite good, but as we were on the last stretch homeward bound, Phil tripped and buggered his ankle. So, scared of a break Jay and Kirk ran back to base to get a van and we brought him home... then took him to the hospital. Waited there for 2 hours and using the time efficiently, i had a nap in the waiting room. Lucky for Phil nothing was broken, but his foot had swollen up to the size of a grapefruit. Le fun.

Back to norm now, and film time.

Argh the pain in my shoulders.

It hurts

To Steve, he is currently hosting my site and does such a fantastic job at providing whatever i seem to want :D. Cant really ask for a better or more dedicated staff for all my useless questions.
